Property developer, Annington, has pledged its support for a brand-new charity in Little Thetford near Ely, the Little Thetford Friendship Club. The generous donation will help the charity, which launched at the end of April, purchase a data projector and screen. Annington is currently building the Cawdle Meadows development in the village.

The Little Thetford Friendship Club is backed by Age UK and offers regular support for members of the community aged 60 and over. In addition to hosting weekly social meetings, in a bid to combatting loneliness amongst Little Thetford’s elderly residents, the charity also provides access to information and advice. The £500 donation from Annington was presented at a special session last month.

Louise Saunders, Sales & Marketing Manager at Annington, comments: “Little Thetford Friendship Club is positioned to make a real difference to members of the community in Little Thetford. Community is at the heart of what we do at Annington, which is why we are proud to be able to support the launch of the Little Thetford Friendship Club and help them get off to a good start by enabling them to purchase much-needed equipment.”

Jackie Lamb, Trustee of the Little Thetford Village Hall and member of the Little Thetford Friendship Club, adds: “The Trustees would like to thank Annington for their donation to the Little Thetford Friendship Club, their support of our new initiative has been immense! The objective of the recently founded Friendship Club is to provide the lonely and sometimes forgotten older members of our community with a regular social occasion to look forward to.”

Jackie continues: “The pressure is always on to find funding and volunteers so Annington’s contribution was a huge boost to morale. The donation of the data screen and projector by Annington increases the range of events we can put on for our members. We were overwhelmed with delight at Annington’s generosity, it was an unexpected, but welcome surprise!”
