Elyi were in attendance and Mrs Julie Spence, as the Queen’s representative as Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, performed the ceremony. It was the official unveiling of the Community Crafting Kitchen. This represented the realisation of a dream for  manager and Ely Hero, Ruth Marley. The funding for a kitchen was procured with the help of the John Lewis foundation who are longstanding supporters of the venture and it is really fun to see Edgar the Dragon from the John Lewis Christmas commercial has taken up permanent residence in the shop, ready to greet you when you enter.

The new facilities will allow the centre to extend its cooking and crafting workshops, spreading the message of recycling, re-using and reducing our individual and collective impact on the planet.
